Petak veče i koncert nama apsolutno nepoznate grupe. Ulazimo u plesnu salu iza restorana, o kojima takođe mogu pisati još jedan tekst, a tamo savršeno uklopljen bend: tres, gitara, kontrabas, trombon, bongosi, konge,  klave, prvi glas i prateći vokali. Vrsta muzike? SON.

Malo društvene mreže, malo sajt, malo zdravo zdravo divni ste, malo zdravo zdravo hvala i dobih ja jedan interesantan i zabavan intervju.

Uživajte i komentarišite.

SDS: Hi Zoran. Thanks for taking an interest in us!

Zoran: Please introduce yourself in some interesting and funny way.

SDS: We are a French and Cuban band, we use Cuban son as a basis and we make our own jam with it. We don’t want to play like old Cuban people, we are rather young guys (hopefully…), we like both pop music and traditional folklore, and what we’re trying to do is to play some music that we feel to embody. However it’s undeniable that traditional Cuban music is part of our identity!

Son Del Salon en Salon :)

Son Del Salon en Salon 🙂

Zoran: Why son in the times of timba, bachata, reggaeton ?

SDS: Actually there is no accurate explanation. It’s just the way it is. But we noticed that quite a lot of European or occidental people are fond of old music: son, afro-cuban folklore, good old salsa… Timba, bachata, reggaeton are mostly listened by the dancing crowd isn’t? By the way a lot of people find those kinds of music very kitschy, with old-fashioned sounds and stupid lyrics, whereas son or trova or even rumba can be considered as more authentic kinds of music… Anyway, we like timba too, but we are more influenced by son. Well let’s say it’s only a question of taste and feeling.

Zoran: At your opinion what is the most beautiful part in huge spectrum of Cuban music and culture ?

Pirinač sa pasuljem i piletinom.

Pirinač sa pasuljem i piletinom.

SDS: We cannot make a classification with the different aspects of Cuban music and culture. No ranking can be done. But if we had to elect the best thing in Cuba, we would probably go for the arroz congri con pollo! (Look at image)

Zoran: Which musicians and bands (old and new) are your inspiration and ideal ?

SDS: Arsenio Rodriguez, La Familia Valera Miranda, Sierra Maestra, Asere, Yuniel Jimenez, Elio Reve, La fania, La sonora ponceña, Jimmy Bosch, William Vivianco, Manu Chao, Habana Con Kola, Ojos de Brujo, Jeanette, Serge Gainsbourg and many more…

Zoran: Have you ever researched dancing side of son ?

SDS: Of course yes! Julio David is a great dance teacher, and we all have some dance rudiments.

Zoran: What would you suggest to musicians and dancers who just entered in this musical genre (Son Cubano)?

SDS: First of all we would advise not to listen to son del salón!! Seriously it takes a lifetime to explore any kind of music. So if you want to discover the Cuban son, listen to the great bands that made the history of this music, try to focus on what is important, learn some Spanish, be patient and don’t fix any limit because music is free! For the dancing part we would recommend to focus on the groove because there is absolutely no point in knowing thousands of tricks if you dance out of the tempo!

Zoran: Where European soneros could hear you?

SDS: Son del salón mostly performs in France, but we happen to play in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxemburg, and we might have soon some opportunities in Spain, Portugal and Italy. But we can come and play anywhere; all you need to do is call us!

Zoran: Do you have some plans for visiting Serbia or region countries in some moment in future?

SDS: Unfortunately we have nothing scheduled in Serbia… Oh but Zoran, why don’t you get us some gigs!!
